Youth Empowerment Resource Center Project

Many teens and young adults with disabilities fail to receive the supports and services they need to become contributing members of our community.  To address this concern, IRI received a three-year grant from the Administration on Developmental Disabilities, US Department of Health and Human Services to establish a self-advocacy empowerment center in the District of Columbia for teens and young adults ages thirteen to thirty.  As a part of this effort, fifteen community-based empowerment groups will be established to assist teens and young adults with disabilities to develop advocacy skills.
